5 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Personal Stylist Now!
Anyone who has struggled with their wardrobe and has hired a wardrobe stylist knows this answer. But many bright and talented women encounter wardrobe obstacles on a daily basis and have no idea there is a solution to their problem. Hiring a personal stylist has a direct impact to your life, enables you to get dressed every day with confidence. I have identified the five critical factors women endeavor in having their own authentic brand style.
Read below to learn what they are and how a stylist will unlock the key to realizing your unique and individual style.
Clarifies your Style
We’ve all heard the phrase; “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.” First impressions are more important than you may think. When I was in retail, one of the first things I learned was the importance of having well executed windows. You get 4 seconds to draw your customer into your store. All the elements had to be in place; lighting, marketing, mannequins and displays, nothing damaged and cleanliness- no dirty windows or floors. The same goes for us.
Our style is the window we are showing the world. First thing is knowing your style personality and how you want to communicate and connect to those around you. You are expressing who you are to the world and assuring their perception of you is accurate. When you dress in your authentic Style- your Brand per se, you attract the sort of clients and people you want in your life. A good stylist guides you into defining your unique and original style, they are like fashion therapists helping you to determine and express yourself honestly and authentically.
Do not underestimate the power of your first impression!
Teaches your Body Type and Colors
This is where a stylist assists you in learning how the cut and fit of an item to flatter and enhances your figure. When we wear clothes that do not emphasize our assets, we feel uncomfortable, and we are not confident. Same goes for the colors we wear. Do you know the colors that truly compliment your hair, eyes, and skin tone? When you know this and wear the right colors your mood changes and you shine!
A stylist will equip you with the knowledge to know at a glance whether a garment suits your unique features or not. They will help you to see and enhance your positive assets and reduce any negatives you might be focusing on.
Aids in Ending Closet Chaos
There are a variety of reasons for not having a closet filled with clothes you love and wear. A stylist understands those rationalizations and helps you to “let go” of those items in your wardrobe that are no longer serving you. Maybe you’ve gained a few lb.’s and are waiting to “fit into it again someday” or it has sentimental value, or monetary value. Often, it’s simply because it was ‘On Sale.’ A stylist will help you to see that buying it on sale is not a deal if you’re not wearing it. Every item despite the cost should net you a cost per wear that benefits you and the investment you made. If you’re not wearing it, it does not belong in your closet- period. Once you clear out the clutter you can see those items you do love and wear, and the missing pieces become apparent. A stylist understands the challenge of editing your wardrobe, there’s no judgement, they get it. Often all you need is a little hand holding, an explanation as to why you probably are not wearing that dress you got on sale and a tender nudge to let it go and free yourself up to a wardrobe that is truly you.
Assists in Prioritized Shopping
Once that closet is cleared of all those things you no longer wear you are then able to create a prioritized shopping list. I often create 3 lists; High priority- meaning we need it now! Medium priority- once those essentials are filled in this would be a good staple. Low priority- a “nice to have” or a specialty item that sets your brand style apart from the rest of the pack. It could be it doesn’t fit your budget at the current time so we keep a watch out for when it might go on sale or find a similar item at a consignment store. When you shop with intention you avoid the common mistakes; “It’s a great deal, I could wear this someday, (what day? An occasion we’ll probably never attend?), or it’ll do I just need a white shirt.” Purchasing only the items you really love and know you will wear is the only way to shop. That doesn’t mean you will never make an impulse buy, but when you know pieces, you have and what your priority list is those impulse purchases have more intention to them because you’ve most likely discovered a gem you’ve been waiting for.
A stylist keeps you on track, when shopping together your time is valued, they have pulled the items for you or know where they are and creates a seamless experience. If they’re helping you shop online, they have done their research, they understand the cuts of each brand and also knows the return policy, so you aren’t straddled with something that didn’t work out. And they save you money- you will not be purchasing anything that doesn’t get worn. When you shop with a stylist you guarantee your ROI.
Relieves Stress Creating a Wardrobe that Works for You!
When you work with a stylist never again will you say, “I have nothing to wear!!!” They will show you how to mix and match to wear your items 2-3 different ways to optimize your garments. They key is 80% of your wardrobe contains the essential items you need for your lifestyle and 20% are those specialty items, trend pieces or branded items that express you and your style personality. They will show you how accessories, shoes and outerwear can change your look. A stylist can help you create a capsule wardrobe or a larger wardrobe. It all depends on the individual. Personally, I have a larger wardrobe I like options and variety. I do however wear my clothes and when I see something that hasn’t been worn, I let it go. Rarely, (like never) have I regretted letting something go.
Creating a wardrobe that is genuinely exclusive to your style can be a daunting challenge- not for a Stylist. This is their expertise, to get you to shine in the clothes you own. They want people to see YOU in the dress, not the dress on you. That’s what it is all about. No two people are alike, everyone has style all you must do is find it. With help from a stylist, you will!
