Shopping for hiking pants can be so much fun!

I recently was invited to host a shop night at our local Fjallraven store here in Portland, Or.  Then the second wave hit, and we had to change our plans. I did go to the store and tried on every hiking pant. they had.  I have shopped there before but not for pants.    I have been an avid hiker for over 20 + years, first in the Bay Area then up here in the PacNW.  There are so many great places to hike along with some hardy hikes or climbs.  I have learned that having the right product for the type of hike you are on makes all the difference.

Who is Fjallraven?

Hailing from the small town of Ornskoldsvik in Sweden, a place where mountains and forest meet the sea.  Fjallraven is an outdoor equipment company that is committed to making nature more accessible.  They focus on simplicity and practicality.

Here is what they do:

·       Develop functional, durable and timeless outdoor gear

·       Act responsibly towards nature, animals, and people

·       Inspire and develop interest in outdoor life

Sounds good to me!

There are so many great aspects of this company- they have developed fabrics (G-1000) that can be waxed; more wax = more weather resistance, less wax = an airier garment with maximum ventilation. They develop products that can stay in use for many, many years. That is sustainability through longevity.

You can purchase their wax or even get your product waxed in store.

In addition, they have their own “in store” seamstresses (with machines) for alterations to ensure you get the fit that is custom to you.

One of my services Elevate & Expand is how to shop.  Shop smarter and sustainably- that means go for quality.  If you are an outdoors person, a hiker or climber then Fjallraven is your product.  And we all know if you are building your wardrobe you start with pants!

They have quite an array of hiking pants for every kind of hiker/mountaineer. From the lightweight “day hiker” to the boulder scrambling rock climber.  All their pants are built for high performance, fit and durability.  I appreciate the attention to detail; the Keb Gaiter trouser has an added attachment zone for suspenders, where the Vida Pro has double layers over the rear and knees (for those rock scramblers).

And the best part is they have regular cuts and curvy cuts.  The curvy fits my body shape (triangle) as it gives room in the hips/rear while remaining smaller in the waistline – no gapping!

Which ones did I get?  The Keb Gaiter Trouser (in curvy) I love them!  Great for a rugged hike and even on my morning walks in the rain as they are water/wind resistant.

Check all their hiking pants at Fjallraven.com.  If you’re in Portland go see the store manager Kelly and Team in the Pearl District- you will experience great customer service and will not be disappointed 😊

Have a Styling Day!
